Before founding Hocking Leadership, Shanna spent 20+ years leading advancement teams and raising transformational gifts at top institutions, including the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Alabama, and Duke University. She has managed teams of nearly 50 professionals and understands firsthand what it takes to lead through change, build trusted relationships with donors and campus partners, and achieve meaningful outcomes.
Shanna’s book, One Bold Move a Day, was named "one of the 9 motivating books to supercharge your 2024" by the Next Big Idea Club. Her expertise has been featured in Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Fast Company, Bloomberg Businessweek, Harper's Bazaar UK, Entrepreneur, and numerous other publications, and she was named a LinkedIn Top Voice in April 2024. When she's not transforming advancement teams, you'll find Shanna plunging down waterslides, attending live concerts, and raiding her stash of sour gummy candy. She dresses up for airplane travel (yes, really) and approaches life with what she calls "a big city mentality and a college town heart."
Shanna holds a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University and a B.A. in Modern Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
